Adrian X - 'Soulgazer' CD Release Party

Sometimes you might comment to yourself how sweet the guitar is on one of Drake's tracks. Or if you've seen Kylie Minogue or Nelly Furtado live, who that dreaded machine is effortlessly walking up and down the frets. He, my friends, is Adrian Ecclesston, better known as Adrian X. With him slightly in the shadows you might be fooled, upon closer inspection he has a set of the most skilled fingers I've seen in a long time, and that was confirmed this past Thrusday. I had the pleasure of being invited to the release party for his debut album Soulgazer and was it ever refreshing. As an instrumental album, the focus is on Adrian's wizardry on the axe, accented perfectly in so many ways by percussion, psychedelic synth and a bass that struts. Inspirations can be seen through the decades with metal influences on "Infinite Source", "Antimatter" feels like something out of the West Coast in the 90's, with the piece de resistance "Soul Fingaz" as the perfect culmination to an excellent evening of music.
