The Notwist, the German indie-rock band that was one of my favourites in the mid-naughts, are back with a new album, Close to the Glass. Kong, the second track released off the album, is surprisingly uptempo and not at all what I was expecting from a song whose name I associate with a large and rather angry gorilla. It is a light and dreamy piece that balances rhythmic guitars and airy vocals over the drifting and pulsing synths that I have come to associate with The Notwist. Have a listen below and be sure to check out their tour dates and see if they're coming to a city near you.
