Fragics - "Toy Cars"
I like being surprised by a song. When I think I have a grasp of the feel of a track only to have something unexpected happen. Sometimes that change is drastic, sometimes subtle. In the case of Fragics's latest track, “Toy Cars”, the change was definitely leaning more towards subtle. Starting off with a mellow, brooding, folk-y feel, the track becomes more vibrant, more energetic with the addition of crisp synths and simple trap elements that, while distancing the song from its downtempo opening, never fully remove the core themes. Colour me impressed.
