The Landing - "Then Comes The Wonder"
You have to love it when a band classifies themselves under a genre that you're not actually sure is a thing. It's especially satisfying when their self-designation is so damn accurate that even if the genre didn't exist before, it sure as hell does now. Such is the case with The Landing, the genre "Space Pop", and their latest single, “Then Comes The Wonder”. When I read "space pop" I wasn't sure what to expect, but then I got to the 0:30 mark and realized exactly what these guys were trying to achieve. Their sound is, quite simply, extraterrestrial. It is beyond atmospheric - it is weightless and optimistic. It is the future seen through rose-coloured lenses. It is out in the universe and happy to be there. Frankly, I'm happy to be there too.
