Oh Wonder - "Livewire"

Oh Wonder - "Livewire"

It's May 1st (how is it already May?) so you already know what's coming: a new track from Oh Wonder. This month's flavour, "Livewire", sees the duo's harmonic vocals dancing over a rich, warm piano line. It does a great job at highlighting the strength of these guys: great harmonies, beautiful melodies, solid productions. The more that I talk about these guys and their monthly releases, the more I get asked how I feel about them and if I'm tired of them yet. And my answer? No, no I'm not. It's not that their music doesn't all have a relatively similar sound, because it does, but why is that a bad thing? Bands are made on the uniqueness of their sound, as that's what sets them apart. Oh Wonder has managed to create a sound that I haven't really heard anywhere else, and despite any similarities their songs have, at the end of the day when I hit play on a new song from them I know I'm going to enjoy myself. What else matters?
