Kurt Vile - "Pretty Pimpin"
The Childish Prodigy is back. If Kurt Vile's "Wakin' on a Pretty Day," was the sound of pulling open the shades and basking in the contentment of a perfect morning, "Pretty Pimpin" is all about channeling nightfall and its promised excitements; predrinking alone, mugging for the bathroom mirror, scotch before ten. (God, I don't go out much) The guitar lines here are dark, clean and sunglass-wearing emoji cool. The percussion, meanwhile, works everything up into a swampy, southern stomp so that it all ends up sounding like a more urbane Jack White.
Weekend vibes in full effect.
