Noname - "Rainforest"
I will be the first to admit that I have historically found myself not giving female rappers nearly as much credit as I do their male counterparts. It is something that I am more aware of in recent years, and now try to actively correct myself when those situations arise. And I am glad that I do, because the truth is that there are ton of incredibly talented artists out there that need more attention than they get.
Tops among those is Noname who is easily one of the best rappers out there right now. Her smooth aesthetic and lyrical prowess is absolutely evident in “Rainforest” where her political verses play out over an incredibly subdued beat, highlighting her talent.
She has said that she’s working on a new album, and needless to say I cannot wait for that to drop.
