Jack Garratt - "The Love You're Given"
I wrote about Jack Garratt a few times last year, comparing him to Chet Faker, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, and Alex Clare. All those comparisons seemed quite apt (and were definitely high praise from me) but it wasn't until I heard "The Love You've Given" that I've felt that Garratt has perfected his sound to the point where comparisons to other artists are no longer possible. His sound, his style, his voice - they're all unique. His music resonates with the emotions and deep thought that went into each and every word and sound. This song actually came out last November when I was going through a particularly trying time (which explains how I missed it), but even if it had been around for years it would still merit many more listens.
