Let's be honest about something: There's nothing deep about Johnny Jewel or his Chromatics project. Jewel is a talented musician, no doubt, but in each of his projects, he is, first and first mostly, concerned with vibe and aesthetic. In this way, he is the perfect artist for our generation, as impeccably curated as an instagram account.

Not to shit all over the Chromatics though. Here, take a second. Look out at our grey, featureless city, thinking of what your ex might make of you in those jeans, and these types of colourless, New Order-style tracks feel just right. The plangent vocals and metronomic beat might suddenly convince you that this is the soundtrack to your life and, well, Sad Boy Cool is very on trend these days, isn't it?
