Andy Shauf - "Things I Do"
Andy Shauf reminds me immediately of someone I used to listen to back in high school…but I cannot remember who it was for the life of me. And it’s not even his voice (though that is familiar, too) - it’s his music that seem to be both sad and happy at the same time, of which “Things I Do” is a great example. I cannot tell what emotion I should be feeling and as a result both are intertwined and it feels weirdly good. I’m ok with that.
What I’m also perfectly content with is that “Things I Do” is taken from his upcoming album The Neon Skyline - an album apparently filled with songs written entirely about a single night out Shauf had at a bar. If that’s not a concept we can all get behind, I don’t know what is. Most importantly though — what bar did this night go down in? Only time will tell.
