Leon Bridges - "Lisa Sawyer"
If you haven't heard the name Leon Bridges before, take note: he is arguably one of the best things to happen to music in recent years. The 20-something Texan blew me (along with the rest of the internet) away when we were first introduced to his music, and learning that he is getting more attention from the general public is nothing short of wonderful - not to mention deserved. Bridges recently signed with Columbia Records and plans to release his debut LP this summer (not soon enough if you ask me). The most recent taste from that album we have been given is “Lisa Sawyer”, a song in which we are told the story of none other than Bridges's mother. Between mellow saxophone lines and catchy doo-wops, we learn about the incredible woman who raised this up and coming star, and once again I am finding myself awestruck at the sheer talent being shown.
