The Avalanches - "Reflecting Light" (ft Sananda Maitreya & Vashti Bunyan)
The Avalanches are back with two new tracks, “Reflecting Light”, and “Wherever You Go”. In classic Avalanches style, both songs heavily feature samples mixed together to create wholly new tracks that still honor and respect the original material. In the case of “Wherever You Go”, which Jamie xx helped product, it features sampled of the gold-plated copper disk launched into space by Voyager 1 and 2 in 1977. This sampling makes the song both beautiful and unnerving.
“Reflecting Light”, on the other hang, samples Vashti Bunyan’s 1970 track “Glow Worms” and is a soulful track that adds a modern twist to a retro sound. It’s classic Avalanches.
Both tracks are presumably taken from the as-of-yet untitled third LP from The Avalanches, due out sometime this year.
